Navy is a colour I’m loving at the moment. In fact, blue in general, especially with all the blue skies at the moment. Looking back, all shades of blue were big on the Fashion Week catwalks. For me, it’s rich blues and navy that I’ve been lusting after and wearing the most recently. It’s one of the most adaptable colours and it suits everyone.
What I’m Wearing
Navy works in exactly the same way as black as a canvas colour, but it just gives that subtle hint of something extra. I think of it like denim. You can pair any colour with dark denim and navy wears the same.
Now, you don’t have to tell me twice about a jumpsuit- they’re my uniform.
I bought this one for £15, reduced from £50 and it’s love!
I love the fact that it’s tailored, yet it’s still comfortable. The cut is really flattering. And, it has the all-important pockets!
Navy is the new Black
Mdina in Malta and what I wore totally inspired this post. The buildings and the colours are just stunning, with a perfect backdrop everywhere you look. How could I not be inspired!
And if it all looks quite familiar, that probably means you’ve watched Game of Thrones. Because much of Season 1’s King’s Landing was shot in Malta. And lots of the landmarks around Mdina were used as part of Westeros.
A Game of Thrones
But, let’s get back to the subject, I overpacked. Not even going to pretend, but that was mainly the other bits, rather than clothing. Having the chance to take some photos for the blog and video for YouTube meant equipment over load!
What I didn’t pack much of is jewellery. I’ll be honest, I used to wear loads, but after having B, I stopped. Having a baby swinging off your earrings is not fun. I keep forgetting I can wear it agin now. But, if I wanted to switch up this look, there are so many options.
But, my clothes worked well together. I packed complementary colours, either next to each other on the scale or at opposite ends, so I could easily mix and match. So, I had whites, navy, mustard, reds, and greens. Plus some leopard print, because you simply can’t go wrong!
Unlike the trip I talked about in the Transition Wardrobe Giveaway, that’s live at the moment, I was baby-free and so I could take full advantage of having luggage space just for me. And also, wearing whatever I liked, without fear of it being devastated by some carrot crisps or worse!
Navy and Red
Mdina has so many gorgeous doors and windows in shades of pink and red, that it was hard not to take a picture in front of every one! Navy with reds and vibrant raspberry tones is such a good way to wear and temper the current trending pinks. Pink isn’t going anywhere for Autumn/Winter 2017 and red will also be big – as seen at Maxmara, Victoria Beckham, Prada et al.
In the Navy
Navy is up there, too with designers like Dior, and it can give that perfect balance to those pinks. Or, add a bold complement to vibrant red. Wearing a darker block of colour is a good way to slim.
You can add an optical diversion to the parts you like by adding a splash of colour of pattern there. That’s my trick!
Navy and contrasting prints
Statement shoes are a favourite of mine. You know that. But, I’ve said it and I’ll say it again, they are a great way to add interest to a monotone or basic outfit. Again, you can tone down or elevate any pattern with a navy backdrop.
I do like to clash prints here and there and, though I don’t do it head to toe. Yet. Right now, a little goes a long way for me!
Navy and White
It’s a classic colour theme for a reason. It just works and who doesn’t love a breton stripe! But, away from that and from nautical themes, there are loads of ways to wear navy and white. One of these seasons hot trends is gingham and the cold shoulder and bardot trend is going nowhere. Though, I will say, to me a bardot is always in style! My wardrobe wouldn’t be complete without them!
Team navy and white with gold or red accessories and I think it screams chic!
Navy with yellows and mustards
I’m not wearing it in the pics, but I’ve been pairing this jumpsuit with a mustard yellow trench from M&S for an easy, casual stylish look. I have had so many compliments on it and I’m obsessed with it. Obsessed. It’s like the faux leather jacket in our giveaway, because it’s perfect for the transition.
Yellow (along with pink) are the key colours the fashion world is obsessing over this Spring and I am fully on board. Did you see my favourite yellow picks?

On Location
I have to say, it’s taken me a while to not cringe and die inside at having my photo taken in public. I still do, but, I love the way these photos turned out and I think Malta was a perfect backdrop. It was worth bringing my camera with me, that’s for sure!
They were taken on a day sight seeing and so Michele, my bestie, was on hand as my personal photographer (hah!) as we pottered around Mdina. I reckon she did a good job! As for Malta, I’d highly recommend it as a place to visit if you haven’t been already. 4 days was just enough for me as I didn’t take B. I’ll definitely be back!
There’s a post coming next week on places to eat and when I get the chance, I’d like to publish a full review of the hotel we stayed at, The 5* Corinithia Spa Hotel. Spoiler: We loved it!
