#bonprixOnTheRocks
Last month was the bonprix #bonprixOnTheRocks party at Malmaison in Leeds. 30 bloggers gathered wearing bonprix party cocktail dresses for a night of fun! That was literally my last night out and the first one I’d been to for a long time and it so lived up to all my excitement.
It’s taken a while to get this post up as we’d literally just moved house that week and since then we’ve been settling in and I’ve been at work and depressingly, we have been without wifi. Anyway, I still smile when I look at the pics and met some lovely lovely ladies, including the bonprix PR team, so here’s how it went.
RSVP
So, it all started with the exciting email inviting me. I always feel so honoured to be invited to or to have the chance to work with brands I love and this was no exception. After knowing relatively little about bonprix, it’s been so nice to be introduced to such an amazing brand and team. I love that aspect of blogging- being able to discover and share new things with you.
A lot of blogger events are in London, so unfortunately, I can’t always make them, so I was thrilled that this was in Leeds and at Malmaison which is a hotel brand I love. We’ve been there a fair bit for drinks and food, so I knew we were onto a winner.
The icing on the invitation cake was that we were sent a link to bonprix’s extensive party dresses range and were invited to choose a dress to wear for the event. How amazing is that! I expected a bit of choice, but seriously, the range is massive. It took me literally weeks to decide! I asked around, I snapchatted my options and eventually narrowed it down to 3. I wanted to choose something special as I wanted a dress I could wear again and again, but one that would also make me feel amazing.
What I was really surprised about was the price points. Under £50 gives you literally 100s to choose from for every shape and size and the details and colours are almost mind-boggling!
You shall go to the ball – if you can choose a dress!
I’m a UK size 6 and the range starts from 6 and goes up to size 34. What I loved at the event was seeing how beautiful the dresses looked on different shapes, sizes and styles. One of my favourites was the midi-ankle length black lace one, which I think we were all cooing at how lovely it looked. That’s one I’d definitely buy for a formal event.
I wanted to go a little more colourful or a bit more daring than my usual day to day style and there were more than enough options for that! I love the sequin mini that was on my short list, but I realised my boobs and legs were never going to look as good as that model!
So, I chose the gorgeous Victoriana neck pencil dress with gorgeous flower detailing. The lace neckline and the bow tie give a beautiful touch, so even with its high neck, and pencil skirt length, it still has that extra touch of glam and sexy to the relative modesty! I love all the details and brought it with me to Spain to wear for any outings.

The cocktail masterclass
When they called the event #bonprixontherocks, I hadn’t realised it was going to refer so much to the ice in the cocktails we made and consumed!
After welcome glasses of fizz, a mingle and some delicious canapes, we were split into two groups. Each group went into a room and watched some pretty cute barman make cocktails. That was the easy bit. Next up, we all had to go up in smaller groups and make the drinks we’d watched being made. If bonprix were testing if we’d been watching the cocktails being made instead of discussing dresses and shoes (and the view), we failed! We somehow bumbled our ways through (I’m pretty sure my group were the worst) and actually came out with some delicious cocktails.
Even though the second round included some shots!
